Our Rebuttal
Amanda,
We don’t want any confusion of what happened on Wednesday. You can review all supporting documents to our rebuttal at www.diegosstl.com/1starreview.html
◦ You made your reservation for a party of three on Open Table on Wednesday, June 8 at 9:27am. Exhibit A
◦ You indicated on your reservation it was for a “special occasion”. Exhibit B
◦ Michael approached your table to discuss your celebration and offer you celebratory drinks. He, in his language and conversation, never indicated “free”, “complimentary” or “on the house”.
◦ People often do something special for special occasions, for instance indulge in something they usually do not. Think of making a toast with champagne rather than typical wine.
◦ You and your friends had your server, Ella, take multiple pictures of you with your drinks and the bottle of Clase Azul. Exhibit C
◦ You had three menus on your table, all indicating its price. Exhibit D
◦ We comped your Clase Azul. You never paid for it. The total for the drink was $0.00. Exhibit E
◦ Your friends did not have their drinks comped. Exhibit F.1 and F.2
◦ You tipped $20.46 on a total of $41.82. Exhibit E
◦ You called the next day to speak with a manager about the charges, even though your drink had been comped.
◦ After the first manager did not comp your friend’s drinks, you demanded you speak with the owner before you “leave your review”
◦ Another manager called you and offered you other items on your return, but you refused.
◦ We have not had any correspondence from your friends that paid, in full, for their Clase Azul drinks, only you demanding we comp their drinks.
◦ You left us a 1-star Google review Exhibit G
To summarize: You never paid for the drink, only your portion of your food and what you shared with your friends. It is noble to fight for your friends, but we haven’t heard from them. You also tipped generously. Is that something you would do if we took advantage of you?
You indicated in your review, “Unfortunately, what was supposed to be a fun night out to celebrate my engagement turned into an extremely frustrating night.” You spent 3.27 hours at our restaurant. How frustrated were you as you continued to order more cocktails?
Lastly, you indicated that you have worked in the industry for 12 years. That’s why your behavior is odd to all of us. When someone comes into a restaurant to celebrate, we offer them things to make the occasion even more special, like trying something new to mark the event. If we didn’t, we would consider it very poor service.
A little side note: Please don’t threaten businesses with reviews. It’s very unattractive. And a friendly reminder, don’t ASS-U-ME anything. : )
Cheers and we hope you have a memorable wedding and marriage!
